GOOD FOR PUPILS
Where circumstances allow there is much to be gained from
allowing each pupil to be an active participant in the creation
of their digital ‘portfolio’, which is a catalogue
of all the events and activities they have been involved in
and a showcase for the best examples of their work.
Portfolios are created by linking pictures, stories, documents
and activities to pupils’ ‘People’ records.
School Life has been designed to be easy to use: the program
is consistent in operation; once you’ve learned how
to link pictures then linking documents or other items is
essentially identical. Teacher comments can be added to items
and the linked work can form a very visual part of the pupil’s
'record of achievement'.
Whether or not they have a personal login, School Life also
enables pupils to browse through all the school’s collection
of media: photos, scanned images, video clips and audio. They
can do this by following links from People, Places, Activities
or diary events or just by browsing through the collections
of items in each function. Work in literacy and humanities
can be enhanced by School Life’s ability to support
pupil’s work through access to stored multi-media content.
