GOOD FOR SCHOOLS
Other than displaying work up on the wall, there is often no
effective medium for showcasing exceptional work throughout
a typical school at present. Once a pupil’s piece of artwork,
document, story or poem etc. is put into School Life it can
be shared by anyone accessing the system (provided it is not
marked as private).
Important diary events can be automatically identified and
displayed in the school’s 'Lifeline'. Lifelines can
be used to present major events in the school’s past
and recent history to pupils, parents and other ‘stakeholders’
in the school.
Media items can be assembled into digital slideshows incorporating
photos, video, scanned documents and scrolling story texts
with background music and verbal annotation. Scrapbooks can
be uploaded to the school web-site so that parents can view
them from home.
Slideshows and portfolios showcasing children's work can
be written to CDs and passed on to parents for display on
a home computer. There is great scope for showing repeating
slideshows on a large monitor screen in the school entrance
hall to entertain and inform waiting parents and other school
visitors.
